"Computer error"

   Dear Alex,

the article on the page

https://www.cut-the-knot.org/arithmetic/algebra/Scott.shtml

is very interesting, but the text is studded with question marks.

Kind regards

Chris

   Thank you, Chris.

This has to do with the font setup. Scott has used MS Word to write his posts. At the time the page was written, everything appeared fine. Then, at one point, some characters ceased to be recognized in browsers. I ran across this phenomenon several times before. Do not exactly understand how this came about.

Thank you again,
Alex

   Alex,

here is that mysterious “?“-error again (the word “technology” after the headline):

https://www.cut-the-knot.org/Mset99/technology.shtml

and here something is wrong with the line pitch:

https://www.cut-the-knot.org/arithmetic/anEquation.shtml#solution

Kind regards

Chris

P.S. Many thanks for mentioning my logarithm example!

   Chris, thank you.

I fixed the problem in the Mset99 directory, but what is the line pitch in the other one. In my browsers the linked part appears OK.

   Alex,

the ¡°?¡° - error in the headline:

https://www.cut-the-knot.org/fta/Buffon/buffon9.shtml

In the middle of the page

https://www.cut-the-knot.org/arithmetic/Means.shtml

there is a link to the famous L¡¯Hospital rule. I¡¯ve tried to open this page several times,
but I always get the message: "Server Error. Operation timed out". Maybe the
link is broken.

Here is a small typo:

https://www.cut-the-knot.org/pythagoras/cos15.shtml

In the second line after ¡°Letting CD =x¡¡° a bracket is wrong.

Here

https://www.cut-the-knot.org/arithmetic/algebra/ComplexNumberIdentities.shtml

the line after ¡°for any real t and s¡¡± must begin with

Re(z-w)=¡ and not with ¡°Re(z-s)¡±=¡

In the second line of the page

https://www.cut-the-knot.org/blue/InterestingStory.shtml

I found:
¡°sadly short-lived) protñ Srinivasar Ramanujan¡± .

Kind regards

Chris

   Alex,

in the expressions (Vector fields on Spheres)
https://www.cut-the-knot.org/do_you_know/CliffordAlgebras.shtml

(z1, z2,…

and

i(a+bi…

the brackets are wrong.

The “?”-error again. On the whole page…

https://www.cut-the-knot.org/fta/ROS2.shtml.

In the line after “Substituting ai=…”

https://www.cut-the-knot.org/Generalization/means.shtml

a bracket is wrong on the left side (((…)))).

Kind regards

Chris
