      | | Long time ago I wondered about the normal distribtion. Since it's based on standard deviation as a measure of dispersion , can't a similar probability density function be derived based on the mean of the absolute deviations? Since the latter is a more accurate measure of dispersion woudn't that give a normal distribution with more precision (for example in sampling, smaller sample sizes could be used)?
 Just curious. |
