"Farey series"

Hi! I'm an Italian student. I found on Cut-the-knot and on "The book of Numbers", by Conway-Guy, something about the Farey series, but I would like to know also the proof Cauchy gave of Farey's "Theorem".
Can anyone help me, sending me the proof or a link to a site which contains it?
