"Trading card probabilities"

I am trying to find mathematical models that can help me simulate how many packets of trading cards does a person need to complete a collection. in this collection some cards are harder than others, the packets have 3 cards and trading is allowed among users. trading can be one card for another card, or many cards for one card. Of course the number of people trading has an influence on the outcome, so the model will also have to account for that. I will really appreciate any help or guidance in this matter.

Kind Regards
