"greek cross"

in maths we have been asked to solve several tangrams. one of which happens to be a greek cross. The aim is to turn it into a square, yet i am completely stuck. does anyone have any ideas on how this would work.

Hint: the area of a greek cross is 5 so you need to transform it in a square of side sqrt(5)=sqrt(1+2^2)
