   If I understood your question correctly, the word "dimension" refers to a measurable entity, like time, distance, volume, temperature, etc. The word "unit" refers to the manner in which that entity is being measured. Time could be measured in various units: seconds, hours, weeks, light years, etc.

   Nice answer, except that a light year is a measure of distance (the distance light travels in a year) not time
