"The impossible Compass"

When I was googling for stuff, it took me to the impossible things homepage, intro thing. There, there was a sentence that stated you can't draw a straight line with a compass, obiviously?

Well it is very possible ;) But it has to use a drafting compass, or one that has a wheel in the center to spread and contract the legs.

If held steadily, you can place the need down, and the lead tip down lightly. Use that wheel to draw the lead to the tip. It doesn't have to be a huge line, but hey, it did just make a straight line.

Think about it ;)
Matt

I did. But what if one's hands are not quite steady? And what if you need to draw a line (as Euclid has stipulated long time ago) between two points farther away than the openning of your compass?
