"Squaring the Circle... how close is close enough?"

I find myself in an unusual position. I can fully appreciate the complexity of mathematics, but have stumbled upon two interesting ideas and have nobody to turn to for advice. I used CTK for research into my ideas, and now find myself back here to present them for review.

1) Using only a straightedge and compass, constructed a circle, and multiple squares. After completing my diagram, i then measured my largest square... and could accurately predict the diameter of the circle. I've posted a video of this on Youtube.com for feedback but haven't received anything worthwhile.

2) (not related to the above mentioned drawing) Based off the measured drawing of a right triangle (10cm by 10cm with the hypotenuse at 14.14cm) I can predict the circumference of the circle out to 30 decimal places without using Pi. It is in the relationship between the chord and the arc. My question to CTK... is this "old news", or a by-product of the Sin/Co-Sin relationship?

My two videos are at www.youtube.com/user/shawnpatrick1968
I know this may be an unorthodox way of asking a question... but I don't know any other way...if that makes any sense.

So, to sum up my post here at CTK, "Hey anyone with a good math background, check out my two videos, 'squaring the circle' and 'world without Pi' and leave feedback, good or bad.

Thank you! Shawn

The problem is in doing it exactly, not approximately. That's all.

   Alex,

If someone were to do this as you say 'exactly' would this be essentially saying the pi is a rational number?

Success is getting up one more
time than you fall down...

No, it would only mean that π is constructible, like, say, sqrt(2).
