"Clarification on proof #82 of pythagorean theorem please"

   I understand that based on the similarity between Triangle ABC and DBE that the AA similarity dictates that x/(a-x)=b/c, but i do not understand how in the next step,
x=ab/(b+c). i have tried all the similarity equations but i cannot find a way to find that value of x. Thank you in advance.

This is plain algebra.

x / (a - x) = b / c

xc = (a - x)b

xc = ab - xb

xb + xc = ab

x(a + b) = bc

x = bc / (a + b)
