"Missing expression in a proof"

   Dear Alex,

it's on the page:

https://www.cut-the-knot.org/wiki-math/index.php?n=MathematicalOlympiads.USA1984Problem1

In the line after "Expanding the equation we have" the expression

(...)x

is missing.

You can also see the Description of the page, but that's a minor
problem.

Kind regards

Chris

   Alex,

if you write it this way then

-<...>x is correct and not "+"<...>x.

Sorry, my mistake.

Kind regards

Chris

   Alex,

for a short moment you can see a few lines directly below the headline,
https://www.cut-the-knot.org/pythagoras/1331Sangaku.shtml
but then they disappear behind Google ads.

Here you recommend
https://www.cut-the-knot.org/books/Reviews/index.shtml
a book by G. Suri and H. Sing Bal. However, if you click on the cover you get
linked to a wrong book.

Here I found
https://www.cut-the-knot.org/arithmetic/algebra/HistoricalRemarks.shtml
"Jean Le Rond d'Alembert, in his Encyclopđ_e..."
and
"Gauss, who gave a proof of the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra in 1799, thought (1925)..."
I think "(1825)" is correct.

Regards

Chris
