I do not know precisely why the explanation window did not pop up. It was supposed to be a separate window. I have verified this behavior with Netscape 2.0, 3.0 and IE 3.0 in Windows 95. I am not sure about other browsers or systems. Anyway, you can link directly to the explanation page whose URL is http://www.cut-the-knot.com/nim_theory.shtml.
