Subject: Asymptotes of a rational function

I am having trouble interpreting graphs containing asymptotes. For example y =(2x+3)/(x+1) .

I am not sure how to draw the graph from looking at the equation. Also I am not sure how to find the equation of the asymtotes. Please can you give me some tips on how to do this by looking at the equation
