"Mathematics"

It is not surprising that so many find items on this site hard when you bear in mind the level of education over the last few decades.
I have to wonder why people who express such a dislike of the subject bother to visit this site.Perhaps it is indicative of their illogicality and therefore their inability to understand something so simple.

I think the only reason people dislike the subject so much is because they don't realize how much worse the alternative is. A century or two ago, these kids learning algebra would have been working in factories, picking rat filfth out of processed foods instead of getting a free education. I personally think education is going downhill these days because the kids are spoiled. What's even worse is I think many teachers are, inadvertently I hope, giving kids the impression that if they aren't having fun learning a subject in school, it is unfair that they should have to learn the material. Letting the kids run the school is a huge mistake.

My educational background is in mathematics, not necessarily because I'm talented at it, but because I find it enjoyable. In this world, I never see anything so infallible as mathematics. I have always considered it to be simple and logical, but once you combine 100 pages of simple and logical material together, it can get quite complicated. I've viewed the angle trisection impossibility proof on this site, and it requires some prerequisite knowledge I do not yet possess, so in order to understand the proof, I need to do more research.

There are some rather complex items on this site but I still find it rather enjoyable. It is a great site. It's definitely not a simple site though. I think it's got some things only mathematicians would understand. However, it's simple to understand the concept of, "Hey, if I hate math, I probably would hate going to a math site."

It could be the culture, the home atmosphere, peer pressure, teacher quality and probably something else.

All statistics aside, when stories are told about people's behavior on hearing somebody's a mathematician, they are told about grown up people, not the kids. So I believe that the idea that the "traditional" education was any better is a myth. There was never good education.

With this I do agree.

You may also post a question here.

Thank you.

Perhaps. What is less understandable is why anybody would like to declare anonimously on a public forum "I hate math!!!!!" Does not make any sense to me.
