   Try the sun.com site:

https://sdlcweb2d.sun.com/ECom/EComActionServlet;jsessionid=5D1CD975EDCC3E7A85814CE64173DD6A

However, it's strange. At this time and day, browsers come with Java support. Check your browser. There must be a place in your preference setting where you are asked to enable Java and JavaScript. So do.

Java isn't always automatically bundled with a browser, although I believe it usually is with Internet Explorer.

However, it's also possible that the Java Virtual Machine may be corrupt -- this happened to me once. I never did get it working again until I reinstalled Windows, although I'm pretty sure just installing the latest version of Java should do the trick.

In any case, check the Internet Options (if you're using Internet Explorer) -- it's in the "Tools" menu in the browser. Click on the "Advanced" tab (I think it's "Advanced" -- I'm using a German OS) and scroll down to Java (Sun). There should be a check in the box labelled "Use Java {some version number} for <applet>" or similar. If not, put a check mark in that box and restart your computer and try again.

I am also having trouble getting the games on this truly wonderful site to work. I do not have the problem with other sit's with math games, I played on another just tonight (www.shodor.org). I have a mac with java enabled (I checked). In case I screwed up my browser somehow tonight, I installed the latest java download and restarted my computer.

I still cannot get the games to work for me. Any other suggestions?

thanks

I truly do not know what to say. Just tomorrow I had several exchanges with Prof McWorter who complained that 1 (Sard) of the latest 4 virtually identical applets (Sard, Glad, Bestemen, Besteman2) loads while the other do not. Eventually he increased the cache size in his browser (IE) and every thing worked fine.

The applets have been compiled in jdk 1.3.1, if that helps.

What might provide additional information is the Java console. In IE it is usually available as a menu selection under Help. If you find it, what does it'say when you try loading a certain page.

Also, which pages (I mean shtml files) have you tried that failed?

Thank you
