It is amazing how you have put together such a lot of math - must have been a lifetime quest%21 Please accept my especial gratitude for having given a wonderful insight into Mohr-Mascheroni constructions. It is fascinating indeed.%0D%0A %0D%0AI have two comments to make%3A%0D%0A %0D%0A%28i%29 Could you please see problem 4%3F Perhaps a simpler way exists%3A raw a semi-circular arc with A as center and AB radius. Then from B%2C intersect this arc with same AB radius at points X and Y. Then take any radius and draw arcs from X and Y to intersect at C%2C which is the point such that CAB is a right angle. %0D%0A %0D%0A%28ii%29 My basic problem is with Problem 9%3A Building a square with side AB. The solution offered does not appear to work. It is easy to get point C so that CAB is a right angle. But after that%2C I am not able to proceed with the given solution. You see%2C the point%28s%29 of intersection of a circle and a line can be found if the center of the circle is NOT ON THE LINE. But%2C in the current case%2C it does not appear to be possible to determine the intersection of a semi-circle %28with A as center and AB radius%29 with the line CA. Could you kindly elaborate%3F Maybe I have not understood the point somewhere.%0D%0A %0D%0AI eagerly await the opinion of an expert%21%21%0D%0A%0D%0AWith best regards%2C%0D%0A %0D%0ASincerely%2C%0D%0A %0D%0ARakesh MISRA%2C%0D%0AINDIA%0D%0A 2|1|0|||||RE%3A Mohr-Mascheroni construction%3A a square from a side|alexb||11:10:58|01/31/2008|Thank for being on alert. %0D%0A%0D%0A%5Bol type%3D%22i%22%5D%0D%0A%0D%0A%5Bli%5DYou are right in that the radius of the circle can be taken to be AB. I can%27t explain intelligently why I requested %5Bnobr%5DR %26gt%3B AB%5B%2Fnobr%5D instead of %5Bnobr%5DR %26ge%3B AB.%5B%2Fnobr%5D This is an omission that I have corrected.%0D%0A%0D%0A%5Bli%5DInadvertently I have omitted a reference to problem %237 which is necessary to locate point D. It is now in and the construction appears to go through as intended.%0D%0A%0D%0A%5B%2Fol%5D%0D%0A
