I would like to help your daughter but it's unlikely that my presentation of the procedure for rounding numbers would be any better than that in her textbook.

I suggest your daughter sends me a problem she had trouble solving and, perhaps with your help, tries to explain the nature of the difficulty. I am pretty sure that after a couple of iterations we'll be able to get this problem over with.
