Common sense or not, at best it might make sense to distinguish between a dense rain and a dribble. The former is well simulated by just sitting or moving in a pool which, in a pool, makes no difference. If this does not set you off thinking what happens at the other end of the spectrum when it's just trickling down, I do not know what will.
