As a pure guess:
- Round is perfect as is the number 2 which Pythagoras associated with man.
- He associated the number 3 with woman, as the first odd number.
A circle and a triangle designate a man and a woman that may be in love (if there is a heart or flowers) and may live in harmony if the whole picture is enlcosed in a perfect circle.
