Dear Alex,

Not recently, in a liner algera class, we were introduced with the notion of the Moore-Penrose Inverse. I was surprised by the name since i thought that the staff we learn was developed in the 18-19 centuries, while Moore-Penrose sound like something from the 50' or 60'. Since I wasn't able to find an answer I wonder if you know the history or the origin of Moore-Penrose Inverse.

Thank you
Lior Noy
