To my knowledge, an article "The Sudoku Epidemic" by Prof. (of Mathematics) R. Wilson appeared in FOCUS, v 26 , n 1 (2006). This is the news letter of the Mathematical Association of America. Another "Beyond Su Doku" by John Sharp appeared in infinity, v 1, n 3 (2005). This is a new British journal of math puzzles and diversion. J. Sharp is also a mathematician and an illustrator of David Wells' You Are a Mathematician.
