A 9's Fan's Clock

I do not claim a copyright on the picture below. One day it arrived unsolicited in my email inbox and stayed there for a long while until rediscovered on occasion of my being overwhelmed with an email clearing zeal. The idea is not mine, by any means - of which envious. On the other hand, I thought it would be unfortunate, for a chef d'oeuvre like that to end up in a trash can of my computer. Hence, the picture:

a clock with digits expressed with three 9s

The 1 - 12 are calculated each with three 9s (in a not unique way) as

  1. (9/9)9
  2. (9 + 9) / 9
  3. 9 + 9 - 9
  4. 9 + 9 / 9
  5. 9! - 9 / 9
  6. 9 - 9 / 9
  7. 9 - 9 + .9
  8. 9 - 9 / 9
  9. 9(99)
  10. 9 + 9 / 9
  11. 99 / 9
  12. 9 + 9 / 9
