Stereographic Projection - an Interactive Tool

The applet below illustrates a property of stereographic projection, viz., that stereographic projection maps circles onto circles.

(In the applet, the whole configuration can be rotated with the left button pressed or translated with the right button pressed. Pressing the left button while the Alt key is down lets one zoom in and away from the configuration. Three scroll bars control the radius of the circle in the plane, its distance from the origin and the relative position of the sphere and the plane.)
